“Response, Recovery and Reconstruction”

  1. Respond to the people – coordinate with medical providers, to set up “clean stations” to help the injured, stop the infections and fight against the spread of disease. Make sure that the stations are strategically places through out, to help balance the supply and demand equally.
  2. Acknowledge the tragedy and work towards putting it behind you. Start to clean up the mess. Its like an old girlfriend number in your phone – erase it! You don’t want to call her at 2 in the morning – you need to move on. I know that is a terrible analogy, but it’s important to be as proactive to this incident. I’m not asking you forget about this tragedy happened, but its important to be “proactive” and work together as a community to clean the debris. Try to think of a positive future. This is a very important step. Some things are uncontrollable – this being one of those situations! But a majority of situations can become proactive if you make them. Work towards uniting the survivors and let them comfort and work together to
  3. Focus on “Long-Term” development. Haiti was already working toward rebuilding of their country. They need to continue the plan, get back on the road, and use this tragedy to unite the people of the world!

Acknowledge the tragedy. Be proactive – not reactive! I know that this is a tough thing to do with these conditions – but remember that the city can and will be rebuilt.

Many celebrities are already helping support the cause, one being the famous “rap star” musician Wyclef.

“My thoughts and prayers go out to those who have been affected by this earthquake. We are closely monitoring the situation and we stand ready to assist the people of Haiti,” Obama said.
